(MIAMI, FL) -- Miami-Dade Aviation Department showed its muscle today when its team of 20 won a Tug-A-Plane contest by pulling a 95,900-pound aircraft over 30 yards in 20.4 seconds.
The MDAD staffers beat nine other teams as they pulled an American Airlines-donated 737 plane during this annual event to benefit the United Way of Miami-Dade County. Each of the teams, with 20 members per team, contributed $2,000 to the United Way and its causes. Children from Catholic Charities Centro Hispano Catolico Child Care Center, a United Way agency, were in attendance at the plane-pull to cheer the teams on.
Other organizations that participated in the plane-pull included Unicco Service Company, Hilton Airport Hotel, DHL, American Eagle, Alliance Hospitality, American Airlines Aircraft Maintenance and REC teams and American Sales and Management Organization Corporation (ASMO).
