Miami-Dade County, FL – The Miami-Dade Aviation Department (MDAD) continues to expand its Flight Information Display System (FIDS) service to more hotels in the area of Miami International Airport (MIA), with installation of FIDS monitors at Hotel Sofitel Miami scheduled for completion this spring. Sofitel Miami joins Hilton Miami Airport, Wyndham Miami Airport Hotel and the on-airport MIA Hotel as properties that currently provide the service. MIA is one of the only airports in the U.S. to provide FIDS technology to surrounding hotels.
FIDS provides real-time flight information sorted by airline, departure/arrival time, destination and on-time status via hotel room TV units or state-of-the-art flat screen monitors. Passengers can learn the status of their flight before they check out of their hotel and avoid waiting at the airport if their flight is delayed or cancelled.
“FIDS technology is a win-win situation for the hotels, passengers and the airport,” said Maurice Jenkins, MDAD Information Systems Director. “All parties benefit from the passenger having the most up-to-date flight information at their hotel. The service is available to all hotel properties in the South Florida area.”
