Miami, FL, October 26, 2008 – Lufthansa today will further extend its network to and from Florida with the launch of its new nonstop service between Miami and Düsseldorf, Germany.
Inaugural flight LH 466 carrying up to 221 passengers and 16 crewmembers will be greeted with a water canon salute, illuminated in Lufthansa’s blue and yellow corporate colors. The flight is scheduled to arrive in Miami at 5:30 pm local time after a nine-hour flight. The seasonal route, which will offer travelers convenient 35-minute connections to more than 50 popular European destinations through Düsseldorf’s boutique-style airport, will be served by a three cabin Airbus A340-300 featuring eight First Class seats, 48 lie-flat Business Class seats and 165 Economy Class seats on top of the current 330 seats offered daily between Miami and Frankfurt.
“The new route perfectly complements our existing three-cabin service from Miami to Frankfurt, and newly launched Orlando-Frankfurt route,” said Jens Bischof, Lufthansa’s Vice President, The Americas. “In addition, Düsseldorf offers an escape from the pressures of many of the larger European airports. It‘s a smaller, faster, less complex boutique style of traveling,” Lufthansa Executive Vice President Marketing & Sales Thierry Antinori will lead a delegation of media, corporations and partners to Miami, among them Düsseldorf International Airport CEO Christoph Blume. Flight LH 467 to Düsseldorf will depart Miami at 7:20 pm and arrive in Düsseldorf at 9:15 am local time the next day.
In order to offer the most convenient departure, arrival, and transit times, Lufthansa’s network planners and sales specialists have optimized the trans-Atlantic flight schedules in close cooperation with customers and Düsseldorf airport. Connections include flights to Barcelona, Milan, Moscow, Paris and Rome.
