New International General Aviation Center at MIA Serves Private Jet Travelers Worldwide

MIAMI, FL --- Miami International Airport (MIA) conducted an open house today for its new International General Aviation Center (IGAC).

The Center is designed to handle international private jet travelers coming to Miami, many who came for the Super Bowl, business and South Florida area activities. The 14,000-square-foot, 24-hour facility is where Customs and Border Protection (CBP) greets and processes international VIP passengers and cargo crew. This building also enhances security at MIA by having an observation room located at the northwest side of the airfield.

The facility apron has the capability to handle stage two, wide-body jets or various smaller aircraft. The one-story building consists of a cargo and general aviation terminal, housing CBP personnel offices and Miami-Dade Aviation Department Airside Operations services.

The $7 million project broke ground in July 2005 and became operational in December 2006. Before occupying the new space, CBP and the Aviation Department were housed in trailers.

The facility is located at 3550 N.W. 57th Avenue, just south of Signature Flight Support.
