WHO:Peter Scalzo, President of Countyline Dragway; Bruce Drum, Miami-Dade Aviation Department Deputy Director of Operations
WHAT: The opening of Countyline Dragway, the first-ever drag racing strip in Miami-Dade County, will be discussed, and drag racing cars will do demonstrations. The one-eighth mile dragway, sanctioned by the International Hot Rod Association (IHRA), is located at the site of the former Opa-locka West Airport, a general aviation airport decommissioned by the Miami-Dade Aviation Department and the Federal Aviation Administration.
WHEN:Friday, January 26, 2006, at 2:30 p.m. (The Dragway will hold its first races on Sunday, January 28, at 11:00 a.m.)
WHERE:The former Opa-locka West Airport, at the intersection of Krome Avenue and U.S. 27 (Okeechobee Road), just south of the Miami-Dade/Broward county line.
