WHAT:Miami-Dade Aviation Department staff members returning from assisting personnel at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

WHY:MDAD staff from Terminal, Airside and Auxiliary Airport Operations volunteered to assist personnel at the airport in New Orleans in providing them with staffing relief and helping that facility return to operations on Tuesday, September 13. During the six days MDAD staff was there, they worked to restore airside and terminal operations. In addition, they assisted with the military helicopter movement at the Superdome helipad, handling an average of 400 flights per day, and at the Airport’s Emergency Operations Center.
MDAD personnel at MIA will form a reception line to welcome staff.
