Exhibition by Local Artist Pablo Cano Opens at MIA Gallery

(Miami-Dade County, FL) - An exhibition by local artist Pablo Cano, titled New York to Home Base - Discarded Debris to Constructed Art, is currently on display through September 30, 2005, at Miami International Airport’s mia Gallery.

Currently a resident of Miami’s Little Havana, Cano is regarded by art patrons and critics alike as one of Florida’s premier fine artists.  Since childhood, puppets and theater have fascinated Cano. Beginning at the age of 10, he put on elaborate plays he invented for his family using puppets he constructed out of household items. His primary work today continues to center around marionettes that he creates from found objects. By incorporating discarded debris from the streets and homes of Miami, Pablo has developed his own remarkable, charming and inventive palette that also employs in his work numerous other art forms, including painting, fine drawing, and ceramic sculpture.

mia Gallery is a 2,400-square-foot, enclosed, secure space on the second level of Concourse E, past the security checkpoint and near the departure gates. The Gallery is a component of the broader MIA Exhibition Program, created for the purpose of humanizing the airport environment with cultural and educational experiences.

Exhibits at mia Gallery change every three to four months. Slides of the work on display are available upon request.  mia Gallery is open to ticketed passengers only or by special appointment.
