Luxuary Private Jet Operator Opens New Facility

(Miami-Dade County, FL) – On June 16, luxury fixed-base operator (FBO) FalconTrust Air Avitat Miami held a grand opening for its new, state-of-the-art facility at Kendall-Tamiami Airport.

The $13 million, three-story, Mediterranean-style building is filled with amenities for FalconTrust Air’s private jet customers. The 22,000-square-foot facility features designer furnishings, Italian marble floors and vintage wall paintings, and includes a fitness center, sauna, VIP suites, movie theater, five-star concierge service, gourmet catering, sky lounge, fully equipped conference rooms and private computer offices, private rooms for pilots, car rental and limousine service, and a fully credentialed flight school on the premises. The facility will also provide ExxonMobil jet fuel, hangar storage, towing, tie-down, maintenance, ground transportation, and helicopter charter service.

“Many upscale frequent flyers now choose private jets as their preferred means of air travel, and Miami-Dade County is an international hot spot for high-end clientele, so we are very pleased to see FalconTrust Air open this beautiful facility at one of our airports,” said Interim Aviation Director Carlos Bonzon, Ph.D., P.E.  “We’ve seen an increase in private jet travel at our airports this year, and the opening of FalconTrust Air and other FBOs to come will surely help us continue that successful trend.”

FalconTrust Air is just one of 17 tenants at Kendall-Tamiami Airport, and three others also have development projects underway.

Reliance Aviation, an FBO, is in the second and third phases of a redevelopment project that will result in a 30,000-square-foot corporate hangar with 2,000 square feet of office space, costing approximately $2.5 million.  Air Sal, another FBO, will construct a fourth hangar building. Dragonfly Squadron is a private-use development that is in the final stage of the permitting process to build a 10,000-square-foot hangar with 2,000 square feet of office space. In addition, Tamiami Air, Inc. completed construction at the end of 2004 on four hangar buildings consisting of 42 medium-sized T-hangars that house single- and twin-engine aircraft, helicopters and aviation-associated businesses.

“Part of the Aviation Department’s business plan has been to actively seek groups interested in developing property at Kendall-Tamiami and our other general aviation airports,” said Dr. Bonzon. “The recent boom in development is a testament to our success in that effort.”
