(Miami-Dade County, FL) – Teresita “Terry” Wagner, Manager of the Miami-Dade Aviation Department’s Landside Operations Division at Miami International Airport (MIA), was recently elected to serve a two-year term as President of the Airport Ground Transportation Association (AGTA). AGTA, which is a national organization, is dedicated to the improvement of airport ground transportation. It is responsible for promoting effective communication between ground transportation operators and airport management. Additionally, the organization conducts research and publishes reports on technology, fees and charges, standards and overall issues affecting airports and ground transportation operators.
Wagner, a 20-year veteran in ground transportation management, oversees the day-to-day operation of MIA’s Landside Operations Division. She is responsible for managing MIA’s $30 million public parking facilities contract, developing strategies to improve employee relations for the Landside Division’s staff of 150 employees, and preparing and monitoring the annual $9 million Landside budget.
“I believe that Ms. Wagner’s wealth of experience in Landside Facilities management here at MIA will be an asset to AGTA’s Board and membership,” said Carlos F. Bonzon, Ph.D., P.E., Interim Aviation Director. “Airport employees who are active in professional associations tend to be productive in the workplace because of the networking and peer counseling that organizations offer.”
The AGTA Board of Directors has traditionally been composed of members from the ground transportation industry. Wagner was elected to the policy-making body more than a decade ago, becoming one of the first airport representatives on the Board. She has the distinction of being the first airport representative to be elected President.
“I am extremely proud of Ms. Wagner and certain that she will be an excellent representative for the Airport, as well as an innovative President of the AGTA,” said Dr. Bonzon.
