(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- On April 3, Miami-Dade Aviation Department and American Airlines officials celebrated the airline's inaugural flight from Miami International Airport to Barcelona. The flight will operate five times a week until June 14, when it begins daily service. The flights will utilize Boeing 767-300 aircraft with 225 seats, which include 30 business class seats and 195 seats in the main cabin. Barcelona is the 111th destination and fourth in Europe served by American and its regional carrier American Eagle from MIA.
Cutting the ribbon for the first flight are: José Abreu, Miami-Dade Aviation Director; Marilyn DeVoe, American Airlines Vice President, Miami Operations; Peter Dolara, American Airlines Senior Vice President, Mexico, Latin America and the Caribbean; and Javier Ricardo, American Airlines flight crew member.
