(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- On July 8, Brazilian low-cost carrier GOL commenced service to MIA with weekly charter passenger flights from Sao Paulo, Brazil using Boeing 737-800 aircraft. GOL, which is Brazil's second-leading airline and the nation's leading low-cost carrier, has applied with the U.S. Department of Transportation for scheduled route authority and is expected to begin daily service after it has federal approval.
