(MIAMI, August 28, 2012) – Miami International Airport will add another European city to its route system this fall when Travel Service Airlines commences twice–weekly passenger service from Prague, Czech Republic beginning November 14, 2012. Travel Service will be the first air carrier ever to provide direct flights from the Czech capital to MIA and will utilize Boeing 737-800 aircraft. The Czech Republic is now a participant in the U.S. Visa Waiver Program, which allows travel to the U.S. for stays of 90 days or less without obtaining a visa. With new service from Moscow by Aeroflot in October and Travel Service in November, MIA will grow to 15 airlines serving 16 destinations in Europe, after adding five other new European routes in the last five years. Since 2009, MIA has leaped two spots in the ranking of leading U.S. gateways to Europe from ninth place to seventh.
Currently, air carriers serving MIA provide an average of 230 weekly non-stop passenger flights to and from Europe. During 2011, more than 2.9 million passengers traveled to or from Europe via MIA.
