HistoryMiami Museum's extensive photography collection includes thousands of aerial photographs that document Miami’s history from a unique perspective.

Miami from the Sky showcases a selection of the museum's best aerial photographs dating from throughout the 20th century, with a focus on Miami’s events, attractions, development, and the built and natural environments. Featuring images from photographer like Richard B. Hoit, Chris Hanson, and Tim Chapman, this exhibition includes 100 photographs, archival footage from the Wolfson Archives at Miami-Dade College, and aerial photography cameras.

Mission:

The Hall of Aviation is an exhibition venue dedicated to exploring themes of flight and the history of aviation, with an emphasis on Miami and Miami International Airport. Envisioned as an ongoing partnership between HistoryMiami Museum and Miami International Airport's Division of Fine Arts & Cultural Affairs, the Hall of Aviation features rotating exhibitions that explore the various aspects of Miami’s long-standing fascination with flight.

HistoryMiami Museum, a Smithsonian Affiliate, safeguards and shares Miami stories to foster learning, inspire a sense of place, and cultivate an engaged community. Through exhibitions, artistic endeavors, city tours, education, research, collections, and publications, the museum works to help everyone understand the importance of the past in shaping Miami's future.
