Project Summary:
The renovations to Concourse E, including the E Satellite and the Concourse D and E connector consist of the following:
Remove and replace existing exterior stucco.
New exterior painting.
Remove existing lightning protection and replace it with a new lightning protection system.
Install a new Advanced Visual Docking Guidance (ADVGS) system at each gate in the E Satellite.
Install additional rooftop cameras to better monitor the gates and aircraft movement areas.

Passengers departing from Miami International Airport will soon be able to board their international flights with the touchless click of a camera, thanks to biometric boarding at all of MIA’s 130-plus gates. When the installation is completed, the project will be the largest implementation of biometric technology at any U.S. airport.

Project Summary:
The Public Restrooms Modernization Project includes the renovation of 196 public access restrooms located within the Terminal/Concourse levels 1, 2, and 3 with an approximate affected area of 91,829 square feet. The restrooms included in this project were evaluated and identified as requiring modernization in the Aviation Department Report titled “Public, Ramp, & Office Restroom Study” dated May 2019.
Renovations include interior demolition, new partition walls, new toilet partitions, new restroom finishes including flooring, walls, ceiling, new vanity countertops, new plumbing fixtures, new accessories, and new lighting fixtures.
Phase 1: 10 public restrooms in Concourse H.
Phase 2:22 restrooms in Concourse D, 12 restrooms in Concourses E, F, and G, and 16 public restrooms in Concourses H and J.
Phase 3: Remaining restrooms across the MIA terminal. Adult changing tables to be included in some restrooms.

Title: Digital Signage at D-60 Gates

Project Summary:
Installation of 13 new digital displays in Concourse D, post-security, at D-60 gates. The new dynamic signs display each gate's number, destination, and flight number. The new displays replaced multiple static ones, which required manual relocation for each flight operation.

Provides passenger information at each of the D-60 gates in a digital medium.

Project Title: Flooring in Concourse G & J

Project Summary:
Installation of 67,882 square feet of new luxury vinyl tile in Concourse G. The new flooring has a modern design with a ¨resommercial¨ finish - a contemporary mix between commercial and residential design patterns.
Installation of 8,970 yards of new carpet at the boarding areas in Concourse J. The new carpeting was designed to complement the concourse’s Everglades-inspired, award-winning art in public places terrazzo installation Foreverglades, by artist Barbara Neijna.
Just as the natural colors of the Everglades’ alternate between seasons of drought and flood, the hues of the new Concourse J carpet transition between red, green, and blue as you approach the individual boarding areas.

Project Title: New Baggage Handling System

Project Summary:
Installation of a new Checked Bag Screening System for South and Central Terminals, as well as an Automated Sortation System for Central Terminal.
The project included a new control room, state of the art Checked Baggage Inspection System (CBIS), and Mobil Inspection Systems (MITs).
Project Benefits:
The new system doubled the speed and efficiency of baggage screening and delivery for flights in MIA’s Central and South terminals. It also eliminated lifting and pulling by TSA officers, improved tracking accuracy, reduced noise pollution, and increased the overall speed of the bag screening process.
The new terminal facility addition for TSA baggage screening achieved a LEED Gold certification (Leaders in Energy and Environmental Design) for being consciously designed as environmentally green and energy-efficient. The certification ensures a smaller carbon footprint and a healthy environment for those occupying the space.
Montblanc store relocation to Concourse D, Gate D-16.

Greater visibility of the store for passengers to access.
The previous store location will be utilized for another new concessionaire.
Title: Concourse E Third Level Sterile Corridor Renovations

Project Summary:
Replaced the interior finishes of the gate lobbies and sterile corridor at the second and third levels in Concourse E. This project included the removal of metal slat ceilings, new acoustical ceiling tiles (ACT), new carpet, paint, new LED lighting, modification to the existing HVAC ductwork, and upgraded fire protection and paging systems. The project also included installation of steel baseboard and corner guards.

Project Title:Concourse E Temporary EGCW Plant for Air Service

Project Summary:
This plant is supplemented the existing plant to provide Preconditioned (PC) Air for cooling gates at both Lower Concourse E and the Concourse E Satellite. The plant, which is portable, will remain available for service at other locations once a permanent plant is built (expected to be operational before the end of 2022).

Passenger flow management technology, historical and real-time data were combined to deliver checkpoint wait-time predictions to the MIA website, mobile app, and LED monitors at each of the 11 checkpoints.

Passengers can find the checkpoint most convenient for their flight before entering the airport.
Airport staff is better allocated to busier checkpoints as demanded by the passenger flow.
Project Title: Central and South Terminal Ticket Counters

Project Summary:
The renovation of ticket counters in concourses G and H. The project included new terrazzo flooring, renovations to the undersurface of the roof, new ticket counter cabinets, and support equipment.
Project Benefits:
Modernized concourses G and H ticket counters in appearance and technology.
Improved the design to be in harmony with the newly revised counters and the master plan of the Capital Improvement Program.

Project Name: South Terminal Conveyor 9 and 10 Modernization

As part of the new airport-wide baggage handling system, the project unified Conveyor 9 (previously in South Terminal) and Conveyor 10 (previously in Central Terminal) into one conveyor belt in Concourse H. Additionally, a modernized conveyor door was installed.
