Curious Geometries

Regina Durante Jestrow

September 2025 - March 9, 2026

Curious Geometries features large-scale, sewn and quilted artworks by Miami-based artist Regina Durante Jestrow. The exhibition invites viewers to pause and enter a world where pattern, material, and memory collide. This series of textile-based works—including stretched compositions and free-form art quilts—explores the irregular, organic, and often playful relationships between geometry and gesture. Inspired by the layered ecologies and the multicultural textures of Miami, the works weave together improvisational dyeing and piecing techniques that nod to the history of quilting while disrupting its expectations.

Repurposed fabrics—sourced from around Miami, including Miami International Airport’s Interior Design Department —carry personal and collective histories, which are transformed through accumulation, repetition, and painterly intuition. Whether suspended freely or taut across stretched canvas, each piece pulses with tension between structure and flow, echoing the rhythms of urban grids and natural forms.

Curious Geometries becomes a site of contemplation and curiosity for travelers: a space where handmade patterns mimic aerial views, fiber mimics paint, and the boundaries between craft and fine art quietly unravel.

Regina Durante Jestrow (b. 1978) is an Italian-American textile artist living and working in Miami, Florida, who grew up in Queens, NY. Her artistic journey began in her formative years, as she learned sewing and crocheting from her mother, igniting a passion that would become a lifelong force. Jestrow’s work challenges notions of traditional quilt-making and textile arts. Her artistic exploration is deeply rooted in women's rights and history, combined with a deep appreciation for the patterns and stories drawn from the enduring traditions of American quilt-making. Her art quilts feature a fusion of new and second-hand fabrics, including hand-dyed and manipulated textiles, achieved through various techniques, such as, natural and reactive dyes, inks, and acrylics.  Her affinity for quilts pushes the boundaries of the medium, resulting in a diverse body of work that includes paintings, drawings, sculptural installations, textile wall hangings, and functional objects. The artist is represented by Baker-Hall (Miami, Florida).
